Description
Laryngoscope handles, medium/standard and pediatric, are metal cylindrical units designed to power and support blade illumination during airway assessment. Model 169a is the medium/standard handle, powered by two C-size batteries; model 169b is the pediatric handle, powered by two AA cells. Both units provide a self-contained light source when the battery compartment is engaged via the end-cap access, allowing immediate use with compatible laryngoscope blades.
The knurled grip on the housing provides secure handling in clinical environments, and the screw-top end-cap allows quick battery replacement. Construction emphasizes durability and reliable contact between the battery terminals and the internal lamp assembly. These handles are intended for standard laryngoscope blade configurations, facilitating routine intubation procedures in adult and pediatric settings. The two battery configurations support different clinical workflows: higher capacity C batteries for longer scenarios and AA batteries for lighter, portable setups. Regular inspection of the contacts and cap seal helps maintain illumination integrity in variable room lighting.
