The splint uses a windlass mechanism to lift the foot toward a near-90-degree angle, creating a sustained, low-load stretch for the plantar fascia and related structures while at rest. This approach aims to reduce daytime foot pain associated with plantar fasciitis by maintaining a controlled dorsiflexion overnight.
The design integrates an elastic connector ring that allows adjustable flexing of the foot and big toe, enabling a personalized, progressive stretch. Velcro straps secure the device around the foot and lower leg and can be adjusted to accommodate different leg shapes and night-time ranges of motion.
Intended use includes plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, Achilles tendonitis, Achilles tendinosis, metatarsalgia, and ankle contractures.
