The Peg Assist System Medium Insole (size M; men’s 8.5–10) is a removable-peg orthotic designed for localized off-loading of plantar wounds and foot ulcers. Removable pegs allow clinicians or caregivers to target pressure points while the wearer remains ambulatory. In tests, plantar pressure can be reduced by up to 60% when configured for the affected region. A stabilizer board is included to prevent adjacent pegs from collapsing under load.
Poron top layer minimizes skin irritation, helps reduce ring edema risk, and limits edge abrasion at wound margins. The system is designed for compatibility with the Darco Square Toe Med-surg Shoe, providing a stable interface with standard medical footwear. HCPCS code A9283 is suggested for billing. Each component is configurable to support wound care protocols and rehabilitative mobility, making this insole suitable for home care, outpatient clinics, and long-term management scenarios.
